BAHRAIN GULF COOPERATION COUNCIL, BAHRAIN
The project leans towards a contemporary interpretation characterized by a horizontal composition accentuated by the use of moucharrabieh, while vertical elements puncture the volume, forming cracks or loopholes. The circular volume, rhythmically defined by a series of colonnades, evokes the layout of galleries and bestows a sense of monumentality to the conference hall. The entrance hall is designed to resemble a covered space reminiscent of the inner courtyards found in palaces. This element represents a contemporary reimagining of Islamic details, utilizing light to sculpt and define the heart of the project. The interplay of light and shadow becomes a key design feature, adding depth and nuance to the architectural composition.
Overall, the project demonstrates a synthesis of contemporary design principles with a thoughtful incorporation of Islamic architectural elements, creating a space that is not only functional but also rich in cultural and aesthetic significance.
